The things serious people ask before they buy a tool they intend to keep.

What it is

What is Tarn?

Tarn is a private, native macOS instrument for serious crypto traders. It holds three jobs in one place: tracking the portfolio you already hold, keeping the journal of why you traded, and a daily practice of planning and honest review. The instrument is organized as a mountain with six elevations, Camp, Summit, Ridge, Vantage, Horizon and Trail, walked from plan to reflection. It connects read-only to your venues, runs entirely on your hardware, and is bought once.

Is this just another dashboard?

No. A dashboard is built to be watched. Tarn is built to be used, a few deliberate minutes a day: set the intention at Camp, hold every position against its route on Summit, keep the honest record on Trail. It is a practice, not a feed.

How is Tarn different from CoinStats, Delta, or Rotki?

Tarn is a native macOS instrument for live positions and trade journaling, not a mobile portfolio tracker like CoinStats or Delta, and not an accounting tool like Rotki. It streams open positions from each venue's own socket, reads Hyperliquid's builder dexes with independent margin, and keeps every figure either correct or honestly marked. Your data stays on the machine, with no account and no cloud copy.

What can I do before the permit?

Install Tarn and the full instrument is there to study: walk every elevation, see exactly how it is built, and watch the market move on Horizon. Unpermitted it runs inert, with no accounts attached. The permit binds your venues and brings it live: your positions on Summit, your record on Trail, your plan at Camp.

The practice

My positions are scattered across exchanges and a cold wallet. How does Tarn hold them together?

Tarn connects read-only to Bybit, Binance and Hyperliquid and reads each venue the way the venue means it: positions, balances, margin and settlement, including the Hyperliquid builder dexes with their own independent margin. Wallets are watched read only by address across Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana and Tron. Anything else is added by manual entry. Every position stands on the same summit, drawn against its route, and no two screens disagree because there is only one screen.

A trade closes and the reason I took it is gone. How does Tarn keep it?

Tarn asks for the thesis when you take the position, not weeks later. While the trade runs, the thesis stays attached to it. When it closes, thesis and outcome land together on Trail with a verdict: the thesis held, or it broke. The record reads like a logbook of climbs rather than a list of fills, and the losses are kept with the same weight as the wins, because the losses are where the practice is.

One screen-share and my net worth is public. What does Tarn do about that?

Tarn carries a money mask. One key clouds every dollar figure while prices, percentages and levels stay live, so you can share a screen or trade in a public place without your size ever showing. Sharing a result goes through the composer, which produces a clean card built on the percentage and the route, never on the account.

Correctness and custody

How do I know a figure in Tarn is correct?

Positions stream straight from each venue's own socket, so a fill shows the moment it lands, not on the next refresh. If the socket drops, REST takes over within seconds. And when a price can no longer be trusted, Tarn marks the figure stale instead of guessing. Every number comes from the venue itself, never invented to fill a gap. Where a figure is rounded for reading, it is rounded from the venue's own number, never massaged to look clean. A reading in Tarn is real, or it is honestly marked.

Can Tarn touch my funds?

No, and it never can. Tarn connects with read-only keys, so it can read the positions you already hold but can never place an order, cancel one, or move a coin. It cannot be hacked into trading for you, because the keys it holds do not carry that power. Tarn takes custody of nothing, ever.

Where does my data live?

On your machine, and nowhere else. Keys sit in the macOS Keychain, your portfolio and record live on your hardware, and every call runs straight from your machine to the venue. There is no Tarn backend, no account, and no cloud copy of your wealth. Nothing exists on our side to breach, sell, or leak. The one exception: the permit key is checked against our activation service. Your portfolio never touches it, and if that service ever disappears, the instrument keeps running permanently.

What happens if Tarn is gone in two years?

Nothing changes on your machine. Tarn is local-first: the instrument and your record run on your hardware and depend on no Tarn server, so there is no service that can be shut down and take your data with it. Connections run from your machine directly to each venue. The instrument you own keeps running, and the record stays yours, with or without us.

Owning it

Is there a subscription?

No. The permit is five hundred dollars, once. Lifetime updates are included, there is nothing to renew, and no meter is running. The instrument keeps working whether or not you ever spend another cent.

How do I get the permit key after I pay?

Checkout is handled by Creem. The permit key arrives by email within minutes of payment. Open Tarn, choose Register, paste the key, and the instrument goes live. If the email has not arrived in ten minutes, check spam or write help@usetarn.com.

Can I use one permit on more than one Mac?

One permit activates up to three Macs. Releasing a Mac from Base Camp frees its slot. If a machine dies before it can be released, help@usetarn.com restores the slot.

Do I need an account?

No login and no sign-up. You buy it once and it is yours. Nothing to forget, nothing to leak.

What if it is not for me?

Own it with a 30-day money-back guarantee. If Tarn is not the instrument for your climb, email within the month for a full refund. No forms, no friction.

The platform

Which accounts can I track?

Tarn connects read-only to Bybit, Binance and Hyperliquid today. Wallets are watched read only by address across Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana and Tron, and anything else is added by manual entry. It reads the positions you already hold, it never trades. More venues are on the way, and shipped support is the proof.

How each venue is read

Can Tarn track Hyperliquid builder-dex (HIP-3) positions?

Yes. Tarn reads Hyperliquid's native dex and every builder dex (HIP-3) it runs, so every position shows up in one place, each under its own venue. Each builder dex keeps its own independent margin, and positions, stop losses and take profits read exactly as they do on any other venue. Most trackers read only the native dex and miss the rest.

How each venue is read

Why macOS only?

Because native is the standard. Tarn is built for one platform in that platform's own language, with the keyboard, the Keychain and the window treated as first class, not wrapped in a browser and shipped everywhere at once. Spreading across every system is how tools become mediocre on all of them. Tarn requires macOS 26 or later on Apple silicon.

The maker

Who builds Tarn?

One trader, by hand, using it every day. Every elevation and every figure was designed against a real decision it has to serve, not assembled from defaults. The craft is the point, and shipped updates are the proof.

Will it keep getting better?

It already has. The maker uses it every day, so it keeps improving, and the record of what has shipped stands on the instrument page. No roadmap of promises, just the releases that already reached every owner.

What has shipped

Anything unanswered, ask the maker directly: help@usetarn.com. One trader reads every message.
