Privacy Policy

Effective date: July 1, 2026

Point Signal Inc. ("we," "us," "Tarn") builds Tarn, a native macOS application for personal portfolio tracking and journaling. This policy explains what we collect and what we do not. Tarn is built local-first, which means we collect far less than most software.

What stays on your device and never reaches us

Tarn runs entirely on your device. The following never leaves your device and is never transmitted to us or stored on any server we control:

  • Your exchange API keys (stored only in the macOS Keychain).
  • Your portfolio data — positions, balances, trades, journal entries, notes, and theses.
  • Your settings and preferences.

We operate no backend server that receives, stores, or processes your portfolio data or API keys. Tarn communicates directly from your Mac to the exchanges and price sources you connect. We never see that traffic.

What we (or our payment provider) do collect

Purchase information. When you buy Tarn, the purchase is processed by our Merchant of Record, Creem (Armitage Labs OÜ), who acts as the seller of record. They collect the information necessary to process payment and comply with tax law — typically your name, email, billing country, and payment details. We do not store your full payment card details. Creem's own privacy policy governs that processing; please review it at checkout.

License records. We retain a record of issued license keys and the associated purchase email, so we can validate licenses, provide support, and honor refunds. This is the minimum needed to operate licensing.

Support correspondence. If you email help@usetarn.com, we receive and retain that correspondence to help you.

Website analytics. Our website uses no third-party advertising or tracking analytics. We do not profile visitors or sell data.

What we never do

  • We never sell, rent, or share your personal information for advertising.
  • We never receive or store your portfolio data, balances, trades, or API keys.
  • We never place advertising trackers inside the Tarn application.

How license and support data is used

Only to: validate your license, provide support, process and honor refunds, and meet legal/tax obligations. Nothing else.

Data retention

License and purchase-association records are retained as long as needed to operate licensing and meet legal obligations. Support correspondence is retained as needed to assist you. You may request deletion of your personal records held by us (see "Your rights").

Your rights

Depending on where you live (including under GDPR in the EU/UK and the CCPA in California), you may have the right to access, correct, or delete the personal information we hold about you, and to object to or restrict certain processing. To exercise any right, email help@usetarn.com. Because we hold so little — essentially a license key, a purchase email, and any support messages — these requests are simple for us to honor.

For purchase and payment data held by our Merchant of Record, please also contact Creem per their privacy policy.

Children

Tarn is not directed to anyone under 18 and we do not knowingly collect information from children.

Changes

We may update this policy. The effective date above reflects the latest version. Material changes will be reflected on this page.
